QEII Foundation Comfort & Care Grants 2012
Applications Available Now
The QEII Foundation will be accepting applications for 2012 Comfort & Care Grants to support QEII patients and their families. All QEII departments and programs are eligible to apply for grants of up to $5,000 which will be awarded for projects that demonstrate direct benefit to patients and/or their families. These may include patient amenities, surroundings, resource materials, or furnishings – to name a few. The granting process is not intended for operating funds, computers, education costs, research projects or part-time staff costs.
Comfort & Care Grants are intended for projects that typically would not receive funding from the health centre’s operating or capital budgets.

The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2012. Adjudication will take place on July 11, 2012, and successful grant applicants will be announced end of summer. All applicants will be notified of decisions by email. For more information, call Jeanette Gill at 473-2645 or email at qe2foundation.ca.
The QEII Foundation conducts a number of grant programs that are largely only available to QEII staff and physicians. These grants are intended to help staff and physicians enhance patient care. The following is a list of grants administered by the QEII Foundation,
Rehabilitation Program Grants
Each year, the QEII Foundation invites applications for grants from the Rehabilitation Program Endowment Fund. Funds generated by the Rehabilitation Endowment Fund are available annually for special project funding.
Applications are invited from individuals working in the rehabilitation program at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre. Grants will be considered for initiatives that enhance awareness and understanding, and promote excellence in rehabilitation.
The Comfort & Care Grant program was established in 2005 by the QEII Foundation to provide funds to enhance care for QEII patients and their families. Comfort & Care grants are intended for projects that typically would not receive funding from the health centre's capital or operating budgets.
Grants are awarded up to $5,000. All employees and physicians at the QEII Health Sciences Centre are invited to apply for funds to support their patients or families.
This endowment was created in 2001 by Stephen and Arlene Waymire to honour the life of Gillian MacMichael by educating interdisciplinary health care professionals in Nova Scotia on palliative care. The fund provides funding for a lectureship on palliative care education and awards bursaries for subsidizing tuition and associated fees for palliative care education.
