Angel in Action Don Locke
January 2009 - Don Locke, a registered prosthesis technician at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre, who joined the team in 1999, fabricates and fits prosthetic devices for patients. After his surprise Angel pinning, Don expressed how much he enjoys working with and helping out the patients. As an amputee himself, Don said he feels like he can relate to the patients and the world they are about to face and is able to truthfully answer many of their questions.

Jim Adderson, health services manager, Orthotics and Prosthetics, said that “Don is a professional in his field and has reached individuals beyond the borders of his technical abilities. Don has been motivational in his delivery of patient centered care, which is why we are here.” Don’s Angel pinninAngel Don Lockeg was a result of an anonymous donation, but Jim highlighted that a recent patient reported how Don’s frank discussion about his own personal experience had benefitted and impacted the patient’s recovery and rehabilitation.
