How do you say thank you to someone who is retiring after 28 years of service?
The Recreation Therapy Department at the Veterans’ Memorial Building decided one way was to name that person an Angel in Action.
Trish Gaudet is a recreation assistant in the Recreation Therapy Department who specializes in providing activities for the Veterans with advanced dementia. The entire staff of the Recreation Therapy Department nominated Trish as an Angel because her “compassion, commitment, and dedication to the Veterans (particularly on the 4th floor) is the purest example of Veteran centered care. Her remarkable spirit, her contagious positive attitude and her genuine care for what is best for the Veterans is outstanding! Combine her years of knowledge and teamwork, as well as her drive for excellence and all of her wonderful traits, and you are truly witnessing an Angel in Action”.

A few days before her retirement, Veteran Bennett Barrett, who has received Trish’s care first-hand, decided he also wanted to recognize Trish’s caring work. Mr. Barrett wanted to thank Trish in a special way for the monthly brunches she coordinated for Veterans. Trish was both surprised and delighted to receive her second Angel in Action pin!
