The demand for the surgical reconstruction or replacement of malformed or
degenerated joints is on the rise as our population ages. In the 55 – 65 year old age group alone, incidences of joint reconstruction have doubled over the past seven years.
An Endowed Chair in Joint Mobility will:
- Further establish the QEII Health Sciences Centre and Dalhousie
University as world leaders in hip and knee reconstruction or
replacement
- Implement, refine and develop radiostereometric analysis (RSA) technologies to test joint mobility devices, which will beneficially impact patients
- Conduct research on new prosthesis designs and concepts
