Craig's Cause cyclists pose for a team photo before heading off.
Seventeen cyclists pedaled with the Craig's Cause Maritime Bike Tour over the August long weekend, cycling throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI to raise awareness, provide support to patients and caregivers and fundraise for pancreatic cancer research taking place at the QEII.
The group visited eight Maritime hospitals over six days (July 28-August 2) delivering a series of public information sessions for physicians, patients and caregivers, as well as Canada's first information booklets and
DVD about pancreatic cancer.
The group of cyclists included, QEII surgical oncologist Dr. Mark Walsh, family members who have lost a loved one to the disease, Craig's Cause members and avid cyclists. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth-leading cause of cancer deaths in Canada.
Craig's Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society's next fundraiser is a community dance, featuring the band Bittersweet, on September 18 at the Porters Lake Pub. Tickets are $15 each with 100 per cent of proceeds supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at the QEII. Information and tickets are available by calling 827-4403 or 827-5811.
