Cancer patients, their families, and medical staff are thankful for the $127,000 raised during the 17th annual Go for the Green golf tournament presented by Crothall Services Canada. Funds raised from this June 2008 event will be directed towards the purchase of a CT Simulator for the QEII Health Sciences Centre. The CT Simulator pinpoints a cancerous tumor, while also detecting the healthy tissue surrounding the tumor. With this identification, radiation exposure to the healthy tissue can be minimized during treatment.
The annual charity golf tournament, Go for the Green, is a one-day premier charity tournament and the leading fundraiser of its kind in the Maritime Provinces. The QEII Foundation is very pleased that Go for the Green exceeds expectations and has sold out every year! This event consists of a full day with brunch, 18 holes of golf, an evening barbecue and wonderful prizes.
Since 1992, funds from the Go for the Green charity golf tournament purchased several critically needed pieces of equipment and assisted in the reshaping of the ICU unit at the QEII's VG site.
