Legion supports Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial

In front of a small but spirited crowd, Elsie Rolls, director of veterans serviceslegion_web at  Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, shook hands with members of the Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of the Royal Canadian Legion. Rolls, along with the QEII Foundation were celebrating a $100,000 donation by the legion, to maintain the Camp Hill residence facilities as well as the Veterans’ Memorial Garden, enabling the facility to continue to provide the highest level of care.

It was a joyous occasion for members of the legion, as the QEII was one of five organizations to receive charitable donations. “This is a part of the ongoing effort to service veterans and their dependents, promote remembrance and service Canada and its communities,” said Steve Wessel, chairman of the Board of Directors for the Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command. We [the legion] are confident these funds will be put to great use," he told the assembled group.

For Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial,  this gift will improve the comfort and care currently provided and ensure its continuance. “We are very excited and owe the legion a lot of gratitude for their continued support and generosity” said Rolls.

From this donation, $25,000 has been guaranteed to the Veterans’ Memorial Garden, with the remainder to be set aside for much-needed furnishing and renovations at Camp Hill.
