On January 7, 2010 the staff of Veterans’ Services department gathered with friends, family and many Veterans to wish Andrew Ritcey, health services manager, Recreation Therapy a happy retirement. As heartfelt speeches and gifts were shared with Andrew, the department also surprised Andrew with an extra-special thank you and named him as their Angel in Action.
“Andrew has modeled what is truly meant by being Veteran focused. He has advocated for Veterans to have a voice in their home at Camp Hill. He has taken their concerns and issues to the people who can make a difference or resolve problems. His efforts have enhanced their quality of life…Andrew has been a driving force behind the Veterans’ Memorial Garden – from the concept through to the ongoing development and perpetual care. He has used his imagination, energy and drive to make sure it is continually being developed further and improved…Also, a strong advocate for Recreation Therapy, Andrew’s vision, support and promotion of the discipline has ensured that the benefits of recreation, leisure activity and music are appreciated and incorporated in the lives of the Veterans and others. We thank you Andrew, for the examples you have left for us to model.”
