Angel in Action Serge Cournoyer

Serge Cournoyer is the latest Angel in Action to receive his wings at a surprise pinning in early August. Angel in Action Serge Cournoyer

Serge is a fairly new commissionaire with Security Services on the 6th floor, Abbie J. Lane Memorial, having been in his post for only one month. He provides a sense of security for patients and staff with top priority to the care and welfare of the patients. Serge was surprised, yet honoured by his Angel pinning – “I’m usually considered the bad guy” he laughed. The patient who nominated Serge as an Angel in Action definitely did not consider Serge a bad guy, citing Serge’s compassion in helping him recover from psychosis.

“Serge, although only here a short time, has impressed me with his diligence in the performance of his duties,” says Lieutenant Wally Mowery, Camp Hill Site Supervisor, Security Services. “His past experience with psychiatry patients and his easy going nature has gained him a reputation for being friendly and easily approachable by the staff and by patients. Serge is a credit to the commissionaires and to the security detail”.

Angels in Action allows grateful patients, their families, or staff to support the health sciences centre – and even a specific unit or department – while paying tribute to someone who has made a difference in their life.
