John and Joyce Lohnes are the first husband and wife team to be pinned as Angels in Action.
John and Joyce are volunteers for the Transitional Care Unit in the Centennial Building. They began volunteering after when Joyce’s mother was a patient in the Unit and now the pair volunteers together several days a week.
“They are a valuable part of the team and they make a very positive impact on the patient and family care experience,” said Judy Hayes, manager of the Transitional Care Unit. “Every time we receive a thank you note from patients and families, John and Joyce’s contribution is usually recognized. We are fortunate to have these two remarkable individuals who give their time and energy so freely and compassionately.”
