A Gift Promised Today, To Be Given in the Future

A planned gift is one that requires careful consideration by the donor, often in consultation with the charity they wish to support, their financial and legal advisors and, in some cases, members of the family. A properly planned gift will meet the donor’s philanthropic goals for supporting a favorite charity, maximizing their tax benefits and creating a legacy that will live on for future generations. A planned gift, as opposed to a gift given now, has the chief advantage of not affecting your current financial resources.

A planned gift is most often a deferred gift such as a bequest in a will or proceeds from a life insurance policy, but it can also be an immediate gift of cash or appreciated securities. A donor also has the option to establish an endowment fund which will grow over time. Every gift, no matter the size, will help make a difference.

Benefits of Your Gift

You can be assured that your gift will be used in a timely manner to maintain hospital programs at the highest level. If your gift is designated to promote a particular aspect of health care, feel confident knowing your wishes will be met. If your gift is left to the QEII Health Sciences Centre, you have peace of mind knowing that your gift will be used in the area of greatest need to purchase medical equipment, fund special programs, and support leading-edge research and in-service education.

Beryl Publicover, director of gift planning at the QEII Foundation, is available at (902) 473-7932 to explore all of these options. All discussions are held in strict confidence and do not require any commitment on the part of the donor.

The information presented on this website is of a general nature only, and does not constitute legal or financial planning advice. Because estate and taxation laws are subject to change, prospective donors to the QEII Foundation are strongly encouraged to obtain legal, estate and/or financial planning advice prior to making a decision to contribute to the QEII Foundation through its planned giving program.

The QEII Foundation is a participating charity of Charity Life Direct, who offers pay-life insurance policies that charities can purchase on behalf of donors, without medical or doctors' visits. That way, donors do not have to commit to a long payment period of a traditional life insurance policy.
